At the annual Royal Bath & West Show in Shepton Mallet
The annual four-day southwest Imagineering Fair attracted nearly 20,000 visitors this year, eager to try the scores of fun STEM activities in the large marquee.
Once again there was a strong line up of supporting companies: Bath College; BMT; Bridgwater & Taunton College; EDF Energy; First Lego League; GE Aviation; IET Bristol; IET Somerset & North Wilts; Imagineering Clubs; Leonardo UK; REME (Army); Rolls-Royce; University of West of England; Wiltshire College - as well as newcomers Bahçeşehir College (from Turkey); Baker Hughes; Mid Somerset Amateur Radio Club and Wessex Water.
The fantastic line-up of organisations provided scores of exciting fun engineering and technology demonstrations and activities for all ages and interests, from simulators, robots and engine-building, to inside knowledge of how we receive our gas, electricity and water, even to learning how to use tools correctly on the Imagineering Clubs stand.
The joint Presidents of the Royal Bath & West Society, Earl and Countess Bathurst, each paid a visit and had great fun with some of the activities.
The Imagineering Team Challenge was won by the team from Roll-Royce. Teams from eight of the Imagineering participants took part in the four-day competition of daily physical challenges - which was keenly fought but with good humour and a great deal of fun. The trophy was presented James Cox, the Bath & West Show Trade Stand Manager.
