RAF Waddington International Air Show, near Lincoln, provided a new stage to parade Imagineering activities
Around 150,000 visitors attended the Air Show over the weekend - and many of them dropped in to the Youth Hangar (Hangar 5), sponsored by Rolls-Royce, to enjoy some exciting fun activities laid on by assorted organisations - Rolls-Royce, AMRC, Qinetiq, Princes Trust, British Science Museum - and Imagineering - to name a few. There were challenges and simulations of all kinds around the hangar and engineering and technology of all kinds. Imagineering entered into the theme of the occasion and as well as the Clubs models and some materials challenges, had set up its own runway for youngsters (and some parents) to fly their own sophisticated airplanes they made on the stand. Some imaginative designs also appeared!
Visitors enjoyed all kinds of other ground-based features but the breath-taking aerial activity included the exciting Red Arrows and the iconic Avro Vulcan Bomber B2 XH558.
Imagineering was breaking new ground in this area of the country and made some new contacts and met many parents excited at the idea of setting up Imagineering Clubs in local schools.
