Thousands flock to Air Day & Imagineering
Imagineering and some of its regular supporters - Airbus, Berry & Escott Engineering, Fleet Air Arm Museum, GE Aviation and newcomers Vulcan to the Sky Trust - occupied one side of Hangar 7 on the busy naval air station at Yeovilton to provide a range of fun and fascinating engineering activity for the young visitors - and adults too!
The RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day was celebrating the 75th Anniversary of this air station based at Ilminster in Somerset. Over 37,000 visitors were treated to static displays of iconic aircraft and breathtaking displays in the air from aerial acrobatics and high-performance jets to vintage aircraft like the Spitfire, Avro Anson and the famous Vulcan XH558 (on its last public appearance at Yeovilton) as well as the RAF’s ever-popular Red Arrows.
In between fun activity on the ground - especially in Imagineering - and stunning action in the air - children went home buzzing with loads of happy memories of a thrilling day out.
