CLUBS FOUNDER RECEIVES SPECIAL AWARD

David Yates, originator of junior engineering clubs, honoured by IMarEST

David, one of the Imagineering Clubs co-ordinators and a Clubs tutor himself, has received the Presidents Commendation Award 2011 from IMarEST – the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, of which he has been a member since 1968.
The Award was for his work in the IMarEST and for promoting engineering to young people.
His citation included: “……he has worked tirelessly on the committee and contributed greatly, instigating lectures and technical visits for the branch……. Over 10 years ago he formed primary school engineering clubs. His professionalism, devotion, his infectious interest in engineering and his unique ability to talk to children and arouse their interest in engineering contributed to the great success of this clubs. They quickly became affiliated to Imagineering. …. David Yates is a true Ambassador of the IMarEST and engineering.”

Well deserved David,  over your entire career and in “retirement”  your contribution to engineering has been significant and continues tirelessly to engender inspiration in youngsters to become our future engineers through IMAGINEERING.
