Imagineering was invited down to REME’s Arborfield Garrison for the special Corps Open Day Weekend
Joy Smith, Bob and Isabel Young took up temporary residence in the Corps Recruiting Team’s marquee at this very special event with activities for the young visitors who braved the chilly, grey and very windy day. The Imagineering Workshop was kept busy throughout the day, ‘hoop gliders’ flitted through the air in the marquee and the Hydraulic Arm model was well-used!
The thousands of visitors included serving soldiers and their families, veterans and local residents were all fascinated to see the latest of the Army’s technology looked after by REME on a daily basis. There were reunions and displays and opportunities for youngsters to clamber in and out of some of the Army’s biggest vehicles.
REME, represented by the Corps Recruiting Team from Arborfield and the REME Recruiting Team at 6 Battalion in Tidworth in earlier years, has supported Imagineering at virtually all of the charity’s public events since 2001 – the ‘longest-serving’ of Imagineering’s supporting organisations. The Imagineering team was only too happy to return the favour and help the Corps to celebrate its special anniversary.
