This was the first public engagement for the Imagineering team since January 2020.
A stand at the Discovery Zone at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate, one of the UK’s major agricultural events - this time inside its own dedicated marquee, open on two sides for good ventilation. This year the Show was held over four days rather than three with capped gate figures.
Imagineering was one of dozen and more organisations in the Discovery Zone who had adjusted their activities to meet current restrictions and hopefully not reducing the level of fun, entertainment and learning for the youngsters.
Imagineering, with its sterling troupe of hardy volunteers, presented a Hydraulic Arm Challenge and Steady Hand Game challenges; opportunity to make farm vehicles with K’Nex; Conductivity Challenge (which proved great fun using assorted fruit and veg! The Materials Challenge introduced youngsters to metals used in their everyday lives which they had to identify. There were also a number of small models demonstrating principles of electricity and electromagnetism. The fun Maths Puzzles had visitors of all ages scratching their heads, especially the one involving inflatable dice!
The event proved a great success, in spite of Covid 19 coronavirus restrictions - which meant reduced visitor numbers at the gate, social distancing, one way systems, LFD tests and much hand sanitising! Fine weather and enthusiasm to be back to some kind of normal helped the enthusiasm of all the visitors to Imagineering.
