COVID-19 PANDEMIC HITS IMAGINEERING EVENTS

With so many cancellations

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has radically changed Imagineering’s programme of public engagement from April and throught the summer.

Originally scheduled for April, the 5-day MACH trade exhibition at the NEC, organised by the MTA, has been postponed to January 2021. Imagineering was to have taken a stand in the Education Zone.

Other casualties of the epidemic have included RAF Cosford Air Show, Great Yorkshire Show and Kenilworth Agricultural Show - all would have featured Imagineering activities.

The Royal Bath & West Show in Somerset has been the location for Imagineering’s major annual event, the Imagineering Fair, featuring major companies and mind blowing fun STEM activities That too has succumbed. Originally set for the end of May, it was postponed until the end of July, But has now had to be cancelled for 2020 and the next Bath & West Show will be in June 2021. A major disappointment for all but understandable in these current times where it is essential not to travel unnecessarily and social distancing is becoming the norm.

Schools, and therefore the Imagineering Clubs remain closed and probably will not be up and running until September 2020 at the earliest. However Imagineering projects are available for teachers online now. https://imagineering.org.uk/clubs/projects/

However, Imagineering has made available some simple activities for children to do at home during lockdown - click here

The Imagineering team is also working on new projects, accommodating the changes that will be introduced in education and looking forward to contining to inspire the young engineers of the future with fun STEM activity. And looking forward to welcoming visitors to special events next year.
